POTENTIAL FOR LOAD CONTROL REMAINDER OF WEEK

ATTENTION ELECTRIC MEMBERS OF TEC:

Due to potentially high temperatures across the PJM footprint (the portion of the national electric grid that Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives are a part), The Energy Cooperative’s generation and transmission provider, Buckeye Power, has stated that a peak alert is very likely for tomorrow (July 19) through the remainder of the week (July 21).

If you have a radio-controlled switch on your water heater or air conditioning system, it will be activated during peak alert times which are 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. each day.

A peak alert occurs when The Energy Cooperative is extremely close to demanding more electric power than we’ve ever used before. Peak alerts are not a notice of a power shortage. They are simply a load management effort used to reduce the demand for electricity and keep the cost of power as low as possible. By keeping high electrical demand levels to a minimum, electric members reap the benefit, in the form of a lower cost of power.

Please help by reducing your energy consumption.

Some easy ways to do this are:
Raise your thermostat to 78 degrees or higher.
Turn off lights and appliances you aren’t using.
Delay doing laundry or running the dishwasher until later in the evening.
Take advantage of using the outdoor grill to avoid using stove/oven appliances and keep cooking heat outside.
